Sunday was a busy day at Friends of Michigan Animals facility on Arkona Road in Sumpter as it hosted an open house to show off the new Cat Haven. Marcy and Pete LaFramboise, at right, are founders of FMAR and guided people around the new cat facility with dozens of volunteers helping, as well. Two of the many guests were Mary and Tony Talaga of Belleville, at left. Mary has been a Belleville crossing guard for more than 30 years and Tony was DPW Director at the city for years before serving on the city council. Tony is recovering from extensive abdominal surgery, chemotherapy and radiation and is doing very well – well enough to attend Sunday’s party. At right is Amber, who stood by the door of the old facility to welcome guests who came to check out the dogs and cats available for adoption, including a litter of eight lively Lab/mix puppies.
