Hundreds of volunteers, some dressed in costumes, jumped into frigid Belleville Lake beginning at noon on Saturday, Feb. 9, in 20-degree temperatures, to raise money for Michigan Special Olympics. This event at the Belleville Yacht Club was billed as Wayne County Polar Plunge. It is sponsored by law enforcement.
Chairman of the event, Dave Katz, said $31,353 was raised as of Monday. On Friday he will have the final figure for this event.
