Van Buren Township Police Officers Ryan Barry and Michael Rini tested for the township’s new K-9 Handler position on March 14 at K-9 Academy. VBT Public Safety Director Greg Laurain said both officers expressed their passion for the position and were well prepared physically and for the intense interview process that followed.
“What we saw during the testing phase made us very proud to have both of them representing our department,” Director Laurain said, adding that at the end of the week, it was difficult to make the selection between these two officers.
They selected Officer Barry for the position of K-9 Handler and he will begin his training in April.
