Daniel Lovell Keener, 17, of Sumpter Township, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon – felonious assault after allegedly drawing a gun on a man he said owed him money.
Sumpter Township Police Detective John Toth said on Jan. 26 there was a dispute over some money and the 32-year-old man who allegedly owed the money was at his home.
Keener, who said the other man owed him money, came to see him. Then another friend came over and asked what was going on.
That’s when Keener allegedly pulled a gun on the victim, demanding his money. The victim dialed 911 on his phone while Keener allegedly kept him covered.
Then Keener left and when Officers Danielle Buccelato and Joe Balowski arrived they were able to track Keener to his home.
The amount of money involved is from $20 to $100, Det. Toth said. Both men live in Holiday West mobile home park.
The preliminary exam in the case was set for Feb. 5 at 34th District Court in Romulus.
