The Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) has announced the appointment of Van Buren Township Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Assistant Director Lisa Lothringer to the SEMCOG Planning and Economic Development Task Force.
Since its inception in 1968, SEMCOG has acted as a regional planning partner with local member governments within the Southeast Michigan region (Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw, and Wayne Counties).
Using technical, data and intergovernmental resources, SEMCOG says it works to improve the quality of the region’s water, making the transportation system safer and more efficient, revitalizes communities, and spurs economic development.
SEMCOG promotes the efficient use of tax dollars for infrastructure investment and governmental effectiveness, and advocates on behalf of Southeast Michigan in Lansing and Washington.
The SEMCOG Planning and Economic Development Task Force is focused on the three economic development pillars of place, business and talent. This Task Force will concentrate on moving Southeast Michigan forward from recovery to opportunity and shared prosperity, according to SEMCOG. A variety of strategies will be considered to showcase Southeast Michigan’s desirability as a place to start, grow, and conduct business.
“I am very excited to have been chosen to take part in helping to shape the future of Southeast Michigan,” Lothringer said.
Lothringer has been with the Van Buren Township DDA for more than five years and is responsible for public relations and marketing, working to promote the DDA business district and Van Buren Township as a whole.
Most recently, Lothringer was the project manager for the $1.15 million Quirk Park Splash Pad and Playground project, which was recently recognized as the winner of the 2019/20 Michigan Recreation and Park Association (mParks) Design Award.
Lothringer holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Siena Heights University in Adrian, where she graduated magna cum laude, and an Associate of Science from Monroe County Community College.
