Christian David Luckett, 24, of Saline was arrested and charged with three felonies after a stabbing during the early morning hours Saturday at The Creek Bar in Van Buren Township.
VBT Director of Public Safety Gregory Laurain said at about 1:20 a.m. on April 8, officers of the VBT police and fire departments responded to 50521 W. Huron River Drive on a report of a stabbing.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 28-year-old man who was suffering from a stab wound to his abdomen.
Patrons at the bar were holding down a man on the floor until police arrived who they identified as the suspect.
Victim Shane Michael Jones of Ypsilanti advised police that that while helping the DJ, he told the suspect to leave the bar because he was too intoxicated. The victim stated the suspect became upset and later stabbed him over it.
Luckett was taken into custody at the scene by police and he was held at the VBT police lock-up facility pending issuance of criminal charges by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office and arraignment.
Luckett was subsequently charged with one count of assault with intent to murder, one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon. All charges are felonies with sentences ranging from four years to life or any number of years if found guilty.
Luckett was arraigned by a judge at 34th District Court and cash bond of $75,000 was set. He has been remanded to the Wayne County Jail awaiting his probable cause conference on April 19 and the preliminary exam, which is set for April 26.

Actually, Shane Jones was trying to extort money from me and waited outside for me where he assaulted me as i tried to leave the bar. It is only after Shane assaulted me that I used a knife in self defense. The police took no statement from me, and neither did journalists. Nobody has to take my word for it either, The video surveillance outside of the bar clearly showed Shane Physically assaulting me and that he was the aggressor.
Court records show a jury found you guilty of two charges and you were sent to prison. Now you are near the end of your parole.
@Rosemary, I never said I got justice. In fact my motion for appeal of conviction was denied. Also, I want to point out that Shane is a MUCH larger man than I am. Using the knife was more of an equalization than an escalation. If he was the same size as me, I probably wouldn’t have got my knife out.
