The Yankee Air Museum recently expressed its congratulations to the people of California for reclaiming a Guinness World Record in Richmond this past weekend.
On Saturday, Aug. 13, a claimed 2,265 people, dressed as Rosie the Riveter, gathered at the National Rosie the Riveter Park to set the new record. The previous record of 2,096 People Dressed as Rosie had been held by Yankee Air Museum since October 24, 2015.
“On behalf of the entire Yankee Air Museum community, I extend to the California Rosies our heartiest congratulations for raising our world record,” said Kevin Walsh, Executive Director of Yankee Air Museum. “We applaud the California Rosies and thank them for elevating the stature of women in the workplace, and especially those who entered the factories on the American home front during World War II. They delivered unprecedented excellence then and women with the ‘We Can Do It’ spirit have been excelling ever since.”
Walsh said that Representative Debbie Dingell, 12th Congressional District and Supervisor Brenda Stumbo of Ypsilanti Township immediately stepped up to reprise their roles as co-chairpersons of the Museum’s Rosie the Riveter World Record event.
“In the months ahead, we will be organizing efforts for the next run at a new World Record,” Stumbo said. “We’ll be back, and our record, like our heritage, will be stronger and more meaningful than ever.”
