ROMULUS – Everyone is invited to an open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at the Romulus Fire Station, 28777 Eureka Rd.
There will be a host of activities and things to see at the event, which kicks off Fire Prevention Week in the city. Plus, there will be free hot dogs, chips and refreshments.
Visitors are invited to check out Fire Department trucks and other equipment, interact with Romulus firefighters and learn about the services they provide, including free smoke alarm installation and free in-home fire safety checks.
A survival flight helicopter is expected to be on site. Children can dip their hands in paint and put a handprint on a fire truck. There will be a turnout gear competition between firefighters.
During Fire Prevention Week, firefighters will visit schools and teach the “stop, drop and roll” technique, develop fire safety plans for homes and businesses and more.
