The League of Women Voters of NW Wayne County has two opportunities to help Belleville voters make educated decisions in the November election: an Oct. 2 candidates’ forum and a non-partisan Voter Guide.
The League will host a candidates’ forum in the mini-auditorium of Belleville High School on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. There are four candidates running for two positions on the Belleville City Council.
Filing for the four-year seats on the city council are Jack Loria, Kelly Bates, and Ken Voigt. Aafrika Poole filed as a write-in candidate and she has been invited to speak, as well.
Mayor Kerreen Conley was the only one filing for mayor.
The public is invited to attend the forum and submit questions that will be asked by a League moderator. The public can also submit questions in advance through the League’s email address: [email protected] up until Oct. 1. The forum will be filmed and the link will be available on the League’s website (LWVnorthwestwayne.org) within days after the event.
Beginning Sept. 25, Belleville voters can also access the League’s non-partisan, on-line voter guide at VOTE411.org. By typing in their address, a voter can view and compare responses to questions. A print version of the voter guide will be available at the Belleville Library by the second week in October.
The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization that encourages informed and active participation in government.
