Elwell Road bridge in Sumpter Township closed due to failure

In a Nixel alert on Dec. 16 from Sumpter Township the public was informed: “The Wayne County Road Commission has informed us that Elwell Road, south of Arkona, will be closed indefinitely due to the bridge’s failure at that location.
“Depending on the severity of the issue when reexamined later today, a rough estimate is the best-case scenario of a few weeks to the worse being sometime in the spring.”
