You’ll be happy to hear that Interim School Supt. Shonta Langford-Green has reached out to the Independent in an effort to work together and be friends. She also invited us to resume delivery of the Independent to the administration building, which we have done.
You may recall that Pam Johnson, secretary to former School Supt. Van Tassel, had banned Independents from the administration building because, she said, there were too many letters to the editor complaining about Van Tassel. She said it was her decision, but we all know who had the final say around there.
While Van Tassel may have left the building with his freshly signed separation agreement and his bag of money, he is far from really gone from the district.
The school board is moving forward to select a new superintendent within the next four months, but the community no longer trusts this board. Look who the board chose last time.
The board believed (and yet believes) some reports from Van Tassel that will be shown to be flat-out false in the coming months.
And, dozens of anonymous letters and packets of false information have descended upon the new employers of those who stood up to Van Tassel and upon newspaper reporters in their new areas. Those letters must be dealt with, as well. Criminal charges in the future?
It’s not over, folks.
