The preliminary exam on an embezzlement charge against Denise Lynn Lewis, 35, was adjourned for three weeks at the request of her retained attorney Michael Vincent.
34th District Court Judge Brian A. Oakley granted the request during a court session on Nov. 7. The new court date is 9 a.m., Nov. 28. This is Vincent’s second adjournment of the case.
The agent or trustee embezzlement of between $1,000 and $20,000 is alleged to have occurred on Aug. 30 in Van Buren Township.
Lewis is free after posting bond of $5,000/10%.
If found guilty, she would be guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than five years or a fine of not more than $10,000 or three times the value of the money or property embezzled, whichever is greater, or both imprisonment and a fine.
