In the July 21 Independent on page 3 we published the sample Aug. 2 ballot that showed the two Sumpter Township Police Protection Millages, each marked “Renewal.” Then, on page 13 we say, “Because they are asking for the original amounts approved in the past rather than the rollbacks now levied with the Headlee Amendment, it cannot be called a renewal on the ballot.”
Sumpter Public Safety Director/Police Chief points out it is called a renewal and the ballot calls it that. Thank you for pointing that out. We regret the error.
