Court Watching: Judge Oakley dismisses assault charges against Michael Leandra Orr

34th District Court Judge Brian A. Oakley dismissed charges against Michael Leandra Orr, 28, on Aug. 23 because the prosecution was unable to proceed. The charges were dismissed “without prejudice,” so they could be refiled in the future.
Orr had been charged with assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to harm less than murder, and assault on Aug. 1 in Van Buren Township. He was lodged in the Wayne County Jail on bond of $100,000/10%.
VBT Officer in charge of the case was Jeff Stanton.
Jason Matthew Roth
Jason Matthew Roth, 39, waived his preliminary exam on one charge of stealing a financial transaction device and 30 charges of using it on Nov. 26 in VBT. Judge Oakley bound him over to circuit court for an arraignment on the information on Sept. 6.
Earl Washington is his court-appointed attorney and Det. Donovan McCarthy is the officer in charge of the case.
Joseph Louis Lucidi
Joseph Louis Lucidi, 19, was scheduled to have his probable cause conference on Aug. 23, but the special prosecutor in charge of the case was not able to be there, so the conference was adjourned until Sept. 20. His court-appointed attorney also needed more time to study the evidence.
Lucidi has posted his $15,000/10% bond.
He is charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact-2nd degree (relationship) and one count of accosting a child for immoral purposes on July 1, 2016 in VBT. Detective McCarthy is in charge of the case.
Joshua Kenneth Marshatt
Joshua Kenneth Marshatt, 28, will have his preliminary exam on Sept. 6 on a charge of manufacture/delivery of marijuana on June 1 in VBT. He is free after posting his bond of $20,000/10%.
Officer in charge of the case is VBT Officer Jeff Stanton.
Paige Lenora Wadsworth
Paige Lenora Wadsworth, 17, waived her preliminary exam and is due at the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice on Sept. 6 for an arraignment on the information.
She is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (felonious assault) and assault and battery in VBT on Aug. 7. Her court-appointed attorney is Alvin Sallen. She is free after posting $5,000/10% bond.
Her co-defendant is Jada Alexus Thompson, 17, who is charged with the same assault charges on the same day.
She was scheduled for her preliminary exam on Aug. 30 at 34th District Court.
On Aug. 30, before Judge Tina Brooks Green, the prosecutor asked for an adjournment until Sept. 6, since the complaining witness is 14 years old and there was no one available at home to bring her to court.
VBT Detective Mike Long said the subpoena was sent to the incorrect address.
Thompson’s court-appointed defense attorney David Reams formally objected to the preliminary exam being postponed a week. Judge Green noted the objection, but gave the prosecution another week to be able to get the witness to court.
Thompson is free after posting $5,000/10% bond. Detective Long is the officer in charge of both cases.
Kenneth Landstrom
The Aug. 23 pretrial session for Kenneth Landstrom on the misdemeanor charge of lying to a Van Buren Township police officer was adjourned until Oct. 4 before Judge Oakley.
