Steven P. Hudock, assistant principal of Huron High School in New Boston since 2012, has been named 2016 Assistant Principal of the Year by the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals.
“I am truly honored to be recognized as Michigan Assistant Principal of the Year,” Hudock said. “The staff and student letters of support were truly humbling. I am very fortunate to work for such amazing students and with such a phenomenal staff. They make what I do so worthwhile.”
Hudock was employed by the Van Buren Public Schools for 16 years as a teacher of social studies, reading, and English. He also served as assistant principal of North Middle School in Belleville. He left the year Michael Van Tassel became Van Buren school superintendent, like so many others in the summer of 2012.
He completed his Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership at Eastern Michigan University in 2014 and is enrolled in its doctoral program. He is working on writing his prospectus and then dissertation and is hoping to graduate with his PhD in December of 2017.
Hudock holds a master’s degree in reading from EMU and a master’s degree in education from Marygrove College. His undergraduate work was completed at EMU in social studies, English, secondary and elementary education.
Hudock takes part in the University of Michigan’s College of Education’s “Round’s Project” helping to train novice teachers. He enjoys running and is also involved with the Ypsilanti Historic Society. Hudock is a 1988 graduate of Huron High School.
He just returned from Athens, Greece, where he took a group of 14 students on a school trip for spring break.
