The award-winning mobile branch of the Public Service Credit Union is adding Sumpter Township and Belleville to its schedule of appearances.
Mobile Branch Manager Laura Saches said her brightly decorated vehicle will be in the Sumpter Country Fest parade on May 26 and the Belleville Strawberry Festival parade on June 16.
The full-service mobile branch has also made appearances at the Romulus Festival of Lights, Pumpkin Fest, Dream Cruise, Gold Cup Hydro Race 2011, and Eastern Market.
The eye-catching vehicle is covered in a skin featuring larger-than-life pictures of the credit union’s employees and their children.
The branch also has a regular schedule at several senior living facilities after Social Security direct deposits arrive in senior accounts, so the seniors can get cash for spending money or just check on their balances. There is an ATM and a teller’s window on a little porch at the side of the branch.
The mobile branch also visits retirement residences a few times a month to relieve the stresses caused by a need for transportation by seniors and their caregivers.
The mobile branch also parks at specific businesses throughout Metro Detroit and has added regular stops at Detroit Public Works, Adult Well-Being Services, Wayne County Sheriff’s Administration Office, and Wyandotte Waste Treatment.
The PSCU mobile branch also was asked to partner with Adult Well-Being locations to educate their clients about financial responsibility. They help people open up savings, checking and even Save to Win CDs.
Those who know of any events that would be enhanced by the mobile branch services are asked to contact them at 734-641-8400 and ask for the mobile branch. They are also available by email at www.pscuow.com .
Branch manager Saches asks people to Friend them on Facebook to find out where they will be putting the branch in “park.”
“If you see us on the road, feel free to give us a wave or the honk of your car horn,” Saches said.
The mobile branch won the top-place Diamond Award for Outdoor Marketing/ Media in a nationwide competition among credit unions from CUNA Marketing.
PSCU has a regular branch in Sumpter Township at the Sumpter Community Center with Mary Foster as branch manager.
