Kurtis Allen Nofz
Kurtis Allen Nofz, 61, of the city of Belleville was video-arraigned in custody on Oct. 2 on a charge of malicious destruction of a building, from $1,000 to $20,000, on April 2 in Van Buren Township. The charge was authorized Sept. 11 and a warrant issued Sept. 12. The warrant was lifted at arraignment and personal bond set at $5,000.
An in-person probable cause conference before Judge Oakley was set for Oct. 15 and a live preliminary exam before Judge Oakley for Oct. 22.
The defendant’s daughter told the court that the defendant will be at the University of Michigan Hospital beginning Oct. 6 for a medical procedure and will be at the U of M for some time after the procedure. Judge Martin advised the defendant at the arraignment to provide proof of hospitalization for Judge Oakley’s consideration for a zoom appearance on Oct. 15.
The defendant dropped off hospital paperwork for the court to review. A probable cause virtual conference was set for Oct. 29 and virtual preliminary exam on Nov. 5. On Oct. 29 the probable cause conference was held and another probable cause conference set for Nov. 19 so the attorney can seek diversion. The Nov. 5 exam was removed from the calendar.
On Nov. 19, the probable cause conference was set for Dec. 3 and the defendant may attend by zoom because of the medical issues. A preliminary exam was set for Jan. 6, 2026 and the defendant should be out of the hospital by then.
On Jan. 6, the defendant was there but the defense attorney Tyrone Bickerdt failed to appear. The exam was rescheduled for Jan. 13.
On Jan. 13, the defendant said he wanted to remove his attorney and a new attorney was assigned. The exam was rescheduled for Jan. 27. At that time a probable cause conference was set Feb. 24 for his attorney.
Jeremy Mark Watson
Jeremy Mark Watson of Belleville is charged with two counts of operating while intoxicated – third offense on Jan. 28, 2024 in the city of Belleville. A warrant was issued and on June 6, 2025 he hired an attorney and a probable cause conference was set for July 9. A probable cause conference was held Aug. 6 and a probable cause conference set for Aug. 27 and then Sept. 8 and Sept. 17 and set again for Oct. 8 and then Oct. 22. He failed to appear and a warrant was issued on Oct. 23 and canceled on Oct. 24. A probable cause conference was set for Nov. 19. On Oct. 28, the defendant was welcomed into DT court and will be under the probation module if the plea allows the charge to be reduced to a misdemeanor.
On Nov. 19, a preliminary exam was set for Jan. 2. At that time he was bound over to circuit court for a Jan. 16 arraignment on the information. Disposition conference is Feb. 13.
Matthew Lee Hurst
Matthew Lee Hurst of Van Buren Township was present for his remote pretrial on Oct. 29 on a charge of domestic violence on Oct. 13 in Van Buren Township. He had been video-arraigned in custody on Oct. 16. Personal bond is $1,000. The final pretrial was set for Nov. 19 and the complaining victim must appear. On Nov. 19 it was learned the complaining victim did not wish to move forward and the charge was dismissed.
Robert Adam Lange
Robert Adam Lange, 38, of Sumpter Township was video-arraigned in custody on Nov. 19 on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon on Nov. 17 in Sumpter Township. His probable cause conference was held Dec. 3 and a probable cause conference set for Dec. 17. He retained an attorney and so his probable cause conference was adjourned to Dec. 22. At that time his preliminary exam was set for Jan. 13.
On Jan. 13, he pled guilty to a reduced charge of improper possession of a gun. He was sentenced to 18 months of probation and a fine of $500.
Lauren Francis Phillips
Lauren Francis Phillips, 24, of Ypsilanti and formerly of Van Buren Township, is charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon (felonious assault) and domestic violence on July 18 in Van Buren Township. She was video-arraigned in custody on July 18 and personal bond set at $5,000. She was due for a probable cause conference on Sept. 3, but she was in the hospital and the court got proof from Skyway Recovery. The probable cause conference was reset for Oct. 8, but the court got word that she had left the facility against medical and clinical advice. Her preliminary exam was set for Nov. 19 and she was bound over to circuit court for a Dec. 3 arraignment on the information. A calendar conference was set for Dec. 22. Final conference is Feb. 27 and jury trial is March 30. She is to have no contact with the protected party.
Van Buren Maroney III
Van Buren Maroney III, 51, of Willis was arraigned in custody on Oct. 6 by Judge Martin for carrying a concealed weapon and driving while license suspended on Oct. 4 in Sumpter Township. His probable cause conference was set for Oct. 15 and his preliminary exam for Oct. 22. That was changed to Nov. 26. Personal bond is $5,000.
On Nov. 26, he pled guilty to reduced charges of improper possession of a firearm and failure to show a valid license. He was fined $250 and put on a year of probation.
On Oct. 6, he also was arraigned on a bench warrant on an operating while intoxicated charge from Sept. 9, 2019 in Van Buren Township. His jury trial had been delayed because of the COVID state of emergency. He was waiting for a new date and then failed to appear for a July 21, 2022 pretrial. A bench warrant was issued. A pretrial was set for Oct. 16 and personal bond set at $5,000. The pretrial was adjourned to seek discovery.
On Nov. 26, he pled guilty to reduced charges of improperly in possession of a gun and failure to display license and was fined $500 and put on probation.
Jeffrey Alan Kovl
Jeffrey Alan Kovl, 38, formerly of Van Buren Township and now of Dearborn, had been charged with reckless use of a gun and gun possession while under the influence on June 16, 2024 in Van Buren Township. He pled guilty to the first charge and the second charge was dismissed.
He was sentenced to 18 months probation and delayed sentencing so the charge will be dismissed if he makes all the all payments and there are no violations. Probation was to end Jan. 10, 2026.
The court was informed of a new charge while he is on probation from his guilty plea. A case review had been set for Jan. 12, 2026. A showcause hearing was set for Oct. 22, but he failed to appear and so a warrant was out for his arrest.
On Nov. 4 he posted cash bond and the case was reopened. A show-cause hearing was held Nov. 26 and the defendant said the case had been deferred for 12 months, not 18 months. The court will listen to the recording of the sentencing.
Timery Ann Uebbing
Timery Ann Uebbing of Van Buren Township was video-arraigned in custody on Dec. 2 on a charge of domestic violence on Nov. 30 in Van Buren Township. Her remote pretrial was set for Dec. 10 and personal bond is $5,000. She failed to appear and a warrant was issued. She was found to be in jail with Lincoln Park. Her show-cause arraignment was set for Jan. 6 and she failed to appear. She is still in warrant status.
Steven Allen Bauer
Steven Allen Bauer of Van Buren Township was video-arraigned in custody on Dec. 2 on a charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder/strangulation on Nov. 30 in Van Buren Township His probable cause conference was held Dec. 10 and his preliminary exam held Dec. 17. He was bound over to circuit court for a Jan. 7 arraignment on the information. Bond is $3,000/10%. Calendar conference was set for Jan. 15, reset to Jan. 16. Final conference is March 6 and jury trial April 2.
Thomas Eugene Rastall
Thomas Eugene Rastall of Ann Arbor was charged with retail fraud-1st degree on Aug. 22, 2024 in Van Buren Township. He was noted to be a repeat offender. The charge was brought May 19, 2025. He missed his arraignment date and was found to be in the Macomb County Jail. His arraignment/probable cause conference was set for Dec. 3. He waived his exam and was bound over to circuit court for a Dec. 10 arraignment on the information, adjourned to Dec. 19. A plea of guilty was accepted on Dec. 19 and sentencing set for Jan. 27. Total fine was $198 and local confinement in the Wayne County Jail, with 56 days credit for time served.
Scott Allen James
Scott Allen James of Van Buren Township is charged with domestic violence – third offense notice on Dec. 10 in Van Buren Township. He was arraigned Dec. 12 and bond set at $5,000/10% was posted. A probable cause conference was held Dec. 22. The preliminary exam was held Jan. 13, and he was bound over to circuit court for an arraignment on the information. Final conference is March 17 and jury trial April 8.
Adrienne Marie Hill
Adrienne Marie Hill of Redford is charged with driving with a license that was suspended, revoked, or denied and driving without security on Oct. 28, 2025 in the city of Belleville. She was scheduled to appear for remote arraignment/pretrial on Dec. 10, but she failed to appear. A show cause hearing / arraignment was set for Jan. 6. The defendant failed to appear and a bench warrant was issued.
Darius Malik Fluellen
Darius Malik Fluellen of Detroit was video arraigned in custody on Jan. 8 on a charge of receiving and concealing stolen goods worth $20,000 or more on Jan. 5 in Van Buren Township. Bond was set at $10,000/10% and it was noted he is a habitual offender/third offense.
A probable cause conference was set for Jan. 20 and a preliminary exam for Jan. 27. Defense attorney Randall Upshaw was retained, so the probable cause conference was set for Feb. 17 for discovery. Judge Martin ordered no contact of any kind with the two complaining witnesses and cannot return to Ditch Witch Sales (Howell).
Paul Justin Dupon II
Paul Justin Dupon II of New Boston was video-arraigned in custody on Jan. 8, 2026 on a charge of possession of a controled substance on Jan. 6, 2023 in Sumpter Township. Personal bond of $5,000 was set by Judge Martin.
He failed to appear for any court sessions on this charge and so a bench warrant was issued on Oct. 16, 2023.
On Jan. 8, 2026, Judge Martin set a show cause/pretrial for Jan. 22, 2026.
Dupon also was video-arraigned in custody on Jan. 8, 2026 on charges of operating while intoxicated-3rd, possession of narcotics, and driving while license suspended on June 5, 2022 in Sumpter Township. Personal bond is $10,000 on these charges and a probable cause conference was set for Jan. 20, 2026 and he failed to appear so a warrant was issued. Preliminary exam had been set for Jan. 27, 2026. He is to have no mood-altering substances without a doctor’s prescription while on this bond.
George Samuel J. Wright
George Samuel J. Wright of Van Buren Township is charged with fleeing police in a vehicle on Jan. 11 in Van Buren Township. He was video-arraigned in custody on Jan. 13. Personal bond is $5,000 and he must wear a GPS tether for location. His probable cause conference was set for Jan. 27 and preliminary exam for Feb. 3.
Peter Lucas Potts
Peter Lucas Potts of Van Buren Township is charged with domestic violence on Oct. 13, 2025 in Van Buren Township. He was arraigned Dec. 3 and his remote pretrial set for Jan. 13. Personal bond is $1,000. He retained an attorney and his remote pretrial was set for Feb. 10.
Phillip Shawn Barnhart
Phillip Shawn Barnhart, 56, of Sumpter Township was arraigned on a bench warrant by video while in custody June 6, 2023 by Judge Martin on charges of operating while intoxicated-3 and driving while license suspended on Jan. 10, 2023 in Van Buren Township. The probable cause conference was set for June 14, 2023 and then adjourned until July 12, 2023. A live exam was set for July 19, 2023. Personal bond was $5,000.
On July 19, 2023 he pled guilty to a reduced charge of driving while intoxicated-2 and the DWLS charge was dismissed. The plea relies on him completing his outpatient substance-abuse treatment. No jail time will be required. Judge Green turned the case over to the probation department for other sentence recommendations. He failed to appear for sentencing on Oct. 10, 2023 and a bench warrant was issued.
On Oct. 21, 2025, the defendant appeared at the counter to post bond for the warrant. He was given a new date for sentencing of Dec. 9, but he failed to appear and a bench warrant was issued. He was scheduled for sentencing on Jan. 13, 2026 and a notice to appear was generated, but the post office said it was unable to deliver. On Jan. 20, a notice of non-compliance with the OWI charge was issued.
