Sumpter Township’s newest part-time police officer is Chaim Michael Kozak, center, who was approved by the township board at its Aug. 9 meeting. He poses with Chief Jim Pierce, at left, and Lt. Eric Luke. Kozak is a Marine with three tours of duty and a Purple Heart.
He served for two years as a sheriff’s deputy on road patrol in Eastern Kentucky and graduated from police academies in Kentucky and Michigan. He is married with two children. Sumpter is in the process of hiring more part-time officers.
