The Belleville Area Council for the Arts will present its 13th-annual Community Art Show Oct. 14-16 at the Belleville Yacht Club, 831 E. Huron River Dr.
The opening reception for the art show will be Friday, Oct. 14, 7-9 p.m. It is the time to meet the artists. Prize winners will be announced at 7:30 p.m.
Cash prizes will be awarded in five categories: 3-D/Upcycled, 2-D, Photography, Children Ages 6-12, and Teens Ages 13-17.
Public viewing continues on Saturday, Oct. 15, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 16, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. The show is open to the public and free of charge.
A People’s Choice Award will be announced at the end of the show. All attendees will have a chance to choose the piece of art that they like the most.
Prize winners will be chosen by these noteworthy judges:
Diane Eissinger is a local stained-glass artist, living in New Boston. She has created stained-glass commissions since the mid-1980s. A member of the Stained Glass Association of America, she has served on various committees and as Executive Board Secretary for eight years.
Her work may be found in several area churches, the Belleville library, and other architectural installations. She has also won recognition nationally. Diane has taught her art locally, and on two occasions at the Dar al-Kalima College in Bethlehem in the Holy Land, where she created a window in Bethlehem’s Christmas Lutheran Church.
Treena Flannery Ericson has been the gallery director of the Scarab Club in Detroit since 2003, following 20 years as a graphic designer. She is a frequent speaker and juror and has served on advisory committees in the Detroit arts community. scarabclub.org
Raelynn Nidiffer describes herself as a Christian Woman Artist who enjoys many types of art, especially art found in nature that God has created. She says, “His beautiful art is everywhere; you just need to look around to appreciate His masterpieces.” Raelynn enjoys creating art in many forms, from rustic art to floral design, also painting on canvas and such. She has paintings on display at St. John’s Church in Waltz, MI.
