Van Buren Township’s The R.E.A.L. (Revealing Exceptionally Amazing Leaders) Summer Youth Program is seeking homesites for neighborhood clean-up.
All sites must be within Van Buren Township boundaries and be occupied by someone who is at least 55 years of age and has no viable means of completing yard work.
“The R.E.A.L. Summer Youth program offers a great service to our residents in need,” said Supervisor Kevin McNamara. “Each year our students really enjoy helping our senior population and the seniors are so appreciative of their services.”
All home sites will be reviewed upon notification for a thorough assessment prior to scheduling an appointment. Please call (734) 699-8900 ext. 9293 by July 5, to schedule an assessment of your property. Service appointments are limited and will include mowing, edging, pruning, weeding planted areas, leaf clean up, hedge trimming, and mulching (provided by the homeowner).
“If you’re 55 or older and need yard work, please contact us,” said Nicole Sumpter, Human Resource Director & R.E.A.L Youth Coordinator. “Last year the students help numerous homeowners and we would like to help more this year.”
This program is a one-time community service and not a professional landscaping company. The program reserves the right to turn down any citizen for lawn care services. Yard work is scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Upon assessments, citizens will be given a date of service starting July 7, 2021.
