Van Buren Township announces that in response to the State’s recommendations Van Buren Park, Quirk Park, French Landing Park and Riggs Park reopened on Monday, June 22.
Under the Governor’s Executive Order, any outdoor park amenities where proper social distancing can’t be maintained will remain closed. So, Haggerty Sub Park and Van Buren Park Beach will remain closed until further notice.
All park patrons are asked to follow the CDC and State’s social-distancing guidelines and practice proper hygiene when entering any VBT parks to help limit the spread of COVID-19.
All play structures will not be sanitized so families are asked to follow the social-distancing guidelines when using the structures.
Van Buren Park’s Front Loop restrooms opened on June 22, but the restrooms in the Back Loop will remain closed until future notice. The Park Beach will remain closed for the remainder of the summer due to the size of the beach and not being able to properly social distance.
The Quirk Park Splash Pad will open on Monday, July 6, and will not be sanitized. The Splash Pad is an open-water system that does not use chlorine for treatment. The system pulls fresh water from the township. Water is not reused. Follow all social-distancing guidelines and practice proper hygiene when entering the Splash Pad. Restrooms opened June 22 at Quirk Park.
Riggs and French Landing Park restrooms will remain closed until further notice.
All pavilion rentals have been canceled and refunds will be mailed to those who have already paid. Van Buren Parks and Recreation offices will remain closed to the public until further notice. All Parks and Rec. classes, events and activities have been canceled for the summer. Refunds will be mailed out to participants who paid for classes.
Residents are invited to Join Parks & Rec. online, Monday through Friday, for a Five-Minute Fun Break, which will include quick activities, nature news, storytime, and more. Join the conversation and fun via Facebook. At the end of each week, a random drawing will take place for participates to win a prize.
For more information visit: https://vanburen-mi.org/parks-and-recreation/. Those who had been enrolled in classes, summer camps and pavilion rentals (when the building closed in March) will be issued a full refund. To get a refund call (734) 699.8926.
