Ronald Barrington Robinson, a Sumpter resident who was found guilty by a 34th District Court jury of a township ordinance violation for parking his RV on his acreage, wants to add some clarifications to the story the Independent ran Feb. 21 on his appeal to circuit court.
Robinson said Judge David Parrott ordered him not to have any travel trailers parked on his property and he was given a $5,000 bond and 48 hours of community service.
He immediately did his community service at the Sumpter Township Senior Center, he said.
The story we printed said “Robinson stipulated that he would not have any RVs of any type brought onto, or allowed, on his property at 27325 Martinsville Rd. in Sumpter Township, but all other parts of his sentencing are stayed until Circuit Court is done with the case.”
But Robinson says he did not stipulate anything. He said Parrott ordered no trailer or recreation vehicle of any kind to be on the property for two years.
He said two of his horses, kept on that property, were poisoned during the 2016 mid-term race. He is still offering a $5,000 reward to find those responsible.
Robinson also added that he asked the township zoning administrator for a permit and his response was, “Get the trailer off the property, now!”
Robinson said Judge Parrott stated when asked to admit evidence that showed all the other trailers on property in the township that are not being targeted and the issue of political pay back, “I’m not going to permit a circus in my courtroom.”
