At Tuesday’s meeting of the Sumpter Township Board of Trustee, former township Treasurer Peggy Morgan asked the residents to do themselves a favor and send a letter to Supervisor John Morgan and Trustee Matthew Oddy to resign.
“We have a very large committee to do a recall on Supervisor Morgan and Matt Oddy,” Peggy Morgan said.
Ronald Barrington Robinson also spoke to the board on Tuesday about the lack of faith people have in this board.
He demanded the resignation of Clerk Esther Hurst, Supervisor John Morgan, and Deputy Supervisor Karen Armatis. Robinson, who has taken a township ordinance conviction to circuit court to appeal, said the township was targeting him for daring to run for office against current board members during past elections.
“In this township, many people are saying it is in free-fall,” he said. “They have no faith in those public officials that are supposed to be our stewards of our finances, of our hopes and dreams, truths, but are nowhere to be seen.”
After the meeting, Peggy Morgan said, “Residents are going to take the township back, one way or another.”
Another recall election coming to Sumpter? Recalls tear communities apart and already residents are calling out nasty comments against fellow residents during meetings. Buckle down. It’s going to be a long, bumpy ride in Sumpter Township.
