“Breaking the Silence,” a mental health symposium, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Ted Scott Campus of Wayne County Community College, 9555 Haggerty Rd., Belleville.
The free event is put on by the WCCC School of Continuing Education and Workforce Development in partnership with Lincoln Behavioral Services and Van Buren Public Schools.
Keynote speaker is Eric Hipple, author of “Real Men Do Cry,” and former NFL quarterback with the Detroit Lions. He will speak about his journey through depression and how to survive and thrive. Hipple will be available to sign copies of his book.
Lunch keynote speaker is Branden Minuth, former Navy Seal, who will share his personal and raw stories about his resiliency and those who impacted him by sharing their stories of resilience.

The event is for everyone living in, or with, the silence of mental health or additional challenges or crises, including: adolescents, parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, and health and human service workers.
