At its regular meeting on Feb. 18, the Belleville Downtown Development Authority met with a bare quorum of five and approved funding requests from the Belleville Central Business Community and the Belleville Area Chamber of Commerce and Chamber Foundation.
The CBC asked for $8,149 for marketing of its nine events for 2026. CBC director Janet Millard said last year the DDA funded all nine. Mayor Ken Voigt, who was chairing the meeting, said they would make a motion to pay not to exceed $8,500.
The CBC marketing included print ads, social media, website, and signage at the events and the DDA logo was included on all of these.
No one was present from the chamber, but the DDA approved marketing funds totalling $16,500 for the chamber’s events in 2026.
In other business at the 50-minute meeting, the DDA:
• Deferred the election of 2026 officers until the next meeting when more members should be present.
