Sgt. Todd Beasley and his family of Flat Rock were given a new home in Belleville at half time at the Dec. 26 Little Caesar’s Pizza Bowl at Ford Field in Detroit.
Also receiving a new home in Detroit were Army Lt. Anthony Ashford and wife and family of Detroit.
The new homes were provided through a collaborative effort by Quicken Loans, Bank of America, and National Faith Home Buyers.
The stories on the home giveaways were presented on Channel 4 News and The Detroit News.
Beesley and his wife Jennifer have six children: Todd, Jr., 17; Kyle, 15; Ashley, 12; Collin, 10; Jayden, 2; and Jayce, 8 months.
The family ran out of room in its modular home. The living room was Jayden’s bedroom and the den was a nursery.
Lt. Ashford lost his health-care job in September and is struggling to pay the rent. Now he has a house to share with his wife Kaprina and three sons, Joshua, who is a student at Kentucky State; Christian, who recently was accepted at Tennessee State; and Jason Booker.
In the bowl game, Pittsburgh beat Bowling Green, 30-27.
