Van Buren Township’s Parks & Recreation Department is hosting a Halloween Costume Drive & Give-Away for children and teenagers, ages 0-18.
“We’re extremely excited to be offering free costumes to area children. We’re asking that everyone goes home and pulls out a few gently used costumes from their Halloween bins or better yet buy a few new costumes to donate to our event,” said Recreation Director Jennifer Zaenglein.
The Drive will be accepting new and gently used Halloween Costumes from Sept. 20 through Oct. 15. Costumes can be dropped off at the Parks and Rec Department anytime from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Due to construction please enter via the Senior Center or main entrance doors.
“We’re expecting a great turnout for our Halloween Costume Give-Away,” said Supervisor Kevin McNamara. “If you can help in any way please donate your gently used or new costumes to this event.”
The Halloween Costume Give-Away will take place Oct. 18-22 from 4-6 p.m., each day. This event is free and open to the public. Please enter via the Senior Center Dining Hall doors, near the Parks & Rec entrance.
“Although our Recreation Department is closed due to construction of the new Community Center, we’ve been brainstorming new and exciting ways to bring our community together,” said Community Services Director Elizabeth Renaud. “I’m really excited to see what costumes we get, so we can give them away to area children.”
