News release from Van Buren Township
In an effort to reduce the spread and exposure of COVID-19, the Van Buren Township Board of Trustees voted to shut down all township administration offices, including the Senior Center, Parks & Recreation Department, all Van Buren public parks, Fire Stations 1 and 2, and the public safety records window starting Tuesday, March 17, for two weeks. After two weeks the shutdown will be reevaluated.
The Public Safety Department (police, fire and dispatch) remains open. All preliminary breath testing will be suspended until further notice. All programs and events have been canceled until Monday, April 6.
The Senior Center Meals on Wheels program will continue, as planned. Seniors participating in the program have received five frozen meals just in case the program has any delays. However, hot meals are still being delivered daily.
The Focus Hope and Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) will operate as planned on Thursday, March 19. Senior Center transportation services are still operating as planned. Those with questions may call (734) 699-8918 or email Lynette Jordan at [email protected] .
Yard waste and garbage pick up are still operating as scheduled. Residents who need landfill passes will have to wait until further notice.
