The open basements at Cobblestone Ridge subdivision in Van Buren Township remain uncovered, as they have for about ten years.
According to a report earlier last week on Channel 4 television, VBT Supervisor Kevin McNamara said the township gave Brad Byarski and Trowbridge Companies until Friday, June 30, to demolish the foundations or pay $25,000 bond, “or we’ll do it.”
McNamara said there are six open basements and there have been agreements on them made in 2011 and 2015 that were not followed by the developers/builders.
At a recent township board meeting, Anthony Randazzo of Sheldon Acquisitions was also mentioned as among those responsible for the situation. At that meeting, McNamara had asked the township board to pay $111,000 in township funds to remove the foundations, plus $2,000 in fencing repairs, and put that as a lien on the property. The board did not approve that expense as yet.
