The student leaders at Tyler Elementary School recently decided to hold a competitive product drive to benefit the “Friday Fill-up!” program at Trinity Episcopal Church in Van Buren Township..
“Friday Fill-up!” provides food kits to local school children at risk for food insecurity over the weekend.
Tyler’s student leadership group, the Lighthouse Team, selected boxed macaroni and cheese as the item for competition. All the classrooms participated to see which room could bring in the most boxes. The winning classroom was promised a macaroni and cheese party hosted by Tyler Elementary Principal Aleisa Pitt.
Jennifer Kitchen’s class won the school-wide contest with 467 boxes donated and they are looking forward to enjoying their macaroni and cheese feast as a reward for their efforts.
A total of 2,081 boxes of macaroni and cheese were donated.
