Scholastic Book Fair Field Representative Rebekah Franz presented Rawsonville Elementary School with a certificate, plaque, and banner to mark the school’s No. 1 spot in Michigan for the summer reading campaign, “Read for the World Record.”
The awards were presented at a special assembly on Friday, Nov. 13.
This is the fourth year Rawsonville has earned the No. 1 spot in Michigan.
Mary Ellen Vago, media teacher, said 28 countries joined in the competition and 6,229 schools competed.
Total minutes read around the world were 286,611,349 and total minutes read by Rawsonville students were 723,951. That put Rawsonville at #1 in Michigan and #53 in the world.
Rawsonville’s name will be printed in Scholastic’s 2015 Book of World Records.
