Residents in the area of Edgemont and Greylock streets in the City of Belleville have found that their parked cars have been entered during the night recently.
And, there are lots of footprints in the snow at all the entered vehicle and the footprints seem to match.
One resident of Edgemont Street said on Jan. 28 they hadn’t locked their cars. She said her daughter came out in the morning to find all the contents of her vehicle’s glove compartment strewn out on the seat and the $4-$5 in change left in the console was gone.
Another vehicle parked outside at that house had money taken from where it was stashed in the “side slot” of the car.
Also, a 12-15 pound bag of dry cat food was missing.
Another man had a container with $75-$100 in quarters taken from his car.
Belleville Police Officer Jeffrey Wickham took pictures of the matching footprints in the snow.
Recently, Van Buren Township police investigated a series of vehicle entries along East Huron River Drive between the City of Belleville and Martinsville Road.
The unidentified person seemed to be walking along in the snow, checking out unlocked vehicles and entering them, looking for something to take.
