After a meeting on Saturday to discuss setting the date of the local candidate forums for the August primary elections, the Belleville-area unit of the League of Women Voters announced the Van Buren Township candidate forum has been set for Thursday, June 16.
The Sumpter Township candidate forum has been set for Wednesday, June 22.
No location for either event has been announced yet, but the dates are final, said Barbara Miller, who worked to organize the group in the Belleville area.
The forums will be moderated by Paula Bowman of the Livonia LWV chapter. Assisting her will be LWV members from the Belleville area.
The local unit is made up of members from the city of Belleville and Van Buren and Sumpter townships.
