On Wednesday, Nov. 20, an arraignment on the information for Jessie Aurelias Williams, 28, of Ypsilanti, held before Judge James R. Chylinski at Third Circuit Court in the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice in Detroit.
Williams stood mute with his court-appointed attorney Donald Johnson and a not-guilty plea was entered by the court. A plea agreement could not been reached, so Williams’ attorney asked that the case be placed on a trial docket.
Judge Chylinski conducted a blind draw, scheduling the case for a calendar conference before Judge Craig S. Strong, later in the week. An order for production of exam transcript was signed and filed the next day.
Bond was continued at $25,000 or 10%, which has been posted.
Williams was arrested by Van Buren Township Police Officer Alexander Schulz on Oct. 18 outside the BP gas station at 11175 Haggerty Road. At the preliminary examination Officer Schulz testified he found $1,400 in cash and a large bag of what he suspected to be crack cocaine in the side pocket and a small amount of marijuana.
Williams is charged with second offenses to two controlled substance laws: possession of cocaine less than 25 grams and possession of marijuana.
