The 34th District Court in Romulus is closed on Nov. 11 in honor of Veterans’ Day.
Throughout our community, events are taking place to honor our veterans. The schools are inviting veterans in so students will learn, first-hand, of what it takes to defend freedom.
Restaurants throughout the area are offering special prices on meals.
On Saturday, Nov. 7, a special Recognition Dinner is being put on at the Belleville Moose from 4 to 8 p.m.. It’s all-you-can-eat spaghetti, served at 6 p.m., with the public paying $10 each and vets paying $5.
On Nov. 10, the Salute to Veterans is planned for 11:15 a.m. at the September Days Senior Center, 46425 Tyler Road, where lunch donation is $2.25. (Sign up by Friday, Nov. 6, at 699-8918.)
Vietnam veteran Charles Tackett of Van Buren Township and Florida reminds us that Belleville, Van Buren Township and Sumpter Township all have committed to honoring Veteran History during the month of November.
We have a lot of veterans in our tri-community and, as throughout the nation, the World War II veterans are leaving us every day. Veterans from the other wars are still among us and we need to tell them all: “Thank you for serving.”
There is no way to adequately thank someone for giving up a life or limbs or mental peace for our freedoms. But, we must try.
The cost of freedom is overwhelming.
