Editorial: And, the situation gets stranger at Van Buren Public Schools

On Tuesday afternoon, Shonta Langford-Green, the Human Resources Director and Interim Superintendent for the Van Buren Public Schools, quit.
Well, actually, she turned in her resignation effective May 11. She has a contract through June 30.
Her son is graduating from Belleville High School this year and now she won’t be able to sign his diploma or hand it to him at commencement as a school official.
Why so suddenly? If she’s going to work for another school district, possibly Ann Arbor again, we’re sure it would use July 1, the beginning of the new school year, as the starting date.
Does what happened on Tuesday have anything to do with what happened on Monday? That’s the day one of the Savage 5 teacher was put back in the classroom. The teacher didn’t get an apology and she had to sign a non-disclosure and no-law suit agreements. But she’s back with her beloved students before the end of the school year.
And, Green was one of those on hand that day in December when the Savage teachers were marched out of the classrooms in front of their students.
At Monday’s work/study session of the school board, Green didn’t say a word about her plan to leave the district in the lurch as it worked to hire a new superintendent by July 1. The message seems to be: “I’m outta here!”
