Dr. Yvonne Craiger has announced that after a significant down-turn in business since April and changes in her personal life, she reluctantly will begin to phase out her Sumpter Pet Care business this month.
Sumpter Pet Care has been offering veterinary services at 19435 Sumpter Road since December 2010. She lives in the city of Belleville.
For the month of October, her hours will be Mondays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Dr. Craiger said when her veterinary clinic is not open, she recommends people take their pets to Canton Animal Hospital, 43439 Michigan Avenue, just past Sheldon Road.
During October she will continue to see patients for preventive and outpatient care, including surgeries, by appointment during her open hours.
Dr. Craiger said clients are invited to come by to pick up their pets’ original medical charts so they can be taken to the new veterinarian of their choosing.
She said beginning Nov. 1, the plan is to have the clinic open one day per week on a walk-in basis – on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. This will continue until the end of the calendar year or until the space is re-leased, whichever comes first.
Dr. Craiger said her on-line store and website will continue until the end of this calendar year.
She said if the clinic space has not yet been re-leased in the new year, the clinic will open two days a month for clients to pick up the pets’ charts and for any prescription refills.
If Dr. Craiger does take a regular position with another facility, she said she will put the location on her website and also let the community know through the pages of the Independent.
