• Saturday, Oct. 8 – 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Harvest Fest on Fourth and Main streets in between the museum and library. Free event for the family, including the annual Nickel Dig, Scavenger Hunt, and new this year, Donut Bobbing.
• Tuesday, Oct. 11 – 6:30-8:30 p.m., Painting Party Fund Raiser in the old fire hall. Join in for an evening of painting and partying, Booville-style. This fund raiser includes donuts and refreshments provided by Tim Horton’s of Belleville and you will bring home your own pumpkins masterpiece. Reservations required. • Saturday, Oct. 15 – 3-5:30 p.m., $10 per person/$8 for members. Cemetery History Tour at Otisville Cemetery in Van Buren Township. Tickets available at museum, Belleville City Hall, Van Buren Township Hall, Sumpter Township Hall, and Belleville Area District Library. Free parking available at 42100 Riggs Road. Tours depart every 20-30 minutes, depending on attendance. Tour is about 30-45 minutes long.
• Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21 and 22 – 8 p.m. – midnight, $20 per person/$15 for museum members. Paranormal Investigation Night at the Museum. Is the museum haunted? Participate in an actual ghost hunt throughout the halls of this building, built in 1875. Includes Benito’s pizza and pop at 10 p.m.
• Tuesday, Oct. 25 – 6:30-7:30 p.m. $20 for adults/$15 for students. Fall Colors Sunset Canoe Trip. Depart from Horizon Park for a quick last trip around the lake. Meet at Horizon Park at 6 p.m. for 6:30 p.m. departure. Dress warm. Costumes encouraged. Contact Ryan Youmans at [email protected] or the museum at (734) 697-1944.
• Saturday, Oct. 29 – 7-9 p.m., Bonfire and Ghost Stories at the museum. Join us in front of the museum for this family friendly event. Listen to ghost stories and enjoy donuts and hot chocolate from Tim Horton’s in Belleville. FREE.
• Sunday, Oct. 30 – 3-5 p.m., Children’s Halloween Party featuring access to the jail in the museum basement, pizza, and refreshments. Costumes strongly encouraged. Also, games, pumpkins to decorate, and pinatas filled with candy. (Donations of pie pumpkins needed. Please drop off at museum.)
The museum’s fall hours are Tuesday, 3-7 p.m.; Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. Group tours and archival research by appointment. The museum is located at 405 Main Street in downtown Belleville.
