Mary Ban supports letters by Smith and Collins on 48111 issue

At the July 10 Sumpter Township board meeting, resident Mary Ban endorsed the recent letters to the editor in the Independent published by Richard Smith and Donna Collins regarding the 48111 issue.
Ban said after six or seven months, half of her mail is still being addressed to Van Buren Township, while she has always lived in Sumpter Township.
She said Collins said it needed to be dumped back on the lap of VBT Clerk Leon Wright, who initiated the change, and she agreed.
Ban said people running the elections have to be vigilant because the address on the voter ID card and the driver’s license have to agree. She said she is glad Sumpter does require picture ID to vote.
She said she admires Smith and Collins for taking a stand on the issue.
