On Friday night, Belleville Police Officer Jim Trombley and Reserve Officer Jim Frazier clocked a speeding vehicle and pursued it to West Columbia Avenue.
Belleville Police Chief Hal Berriman said the driver of another vehicle said he thought the moving police car was parked and pulled out, sideswiping the police vehicle.
Chief Berriman said Michigan State Police completed the accident report and cited the driver who hit the police car.
Chief Berriman said he didn’t know if police car 215 would be totaled, but he said it was badly damaged. The air bags deployed and no one was injured, he said.
