The Belleville-Area Lions Club is holding its first Picnic in the Park today, July 20, and plans to have it as an annual event.
The free picnic runs from 4 to 7 p.m. at Victory Park at Five Points in Belleville. The menu includes hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, beans, chips, pop, and water.
The public is invited to enjoy good food and the entertainment provided by Tyrone “Smoking Keyboard” Hamilton and Nathan “The Axe Man” Sweet.
“Please come out and help raise the awareness of the blind, not only in our community, but around the world,” said club president Keith McDonald.
“If the Lions Club has touched your lives, come tell us your story,” McDonald said. “Meet the folks and the organizations that help us to help the blind.”
He asked members of the public to bring their used eyeglasses and hearing-aids because the Lions will be collecting them at the park.
McDonald invites you to call him for more information at (734) 697-0796. Freewill donations will be accepted.
