The League of Women Voters of NW Wayne County is providing an opportunity for Van Buren Township citizens to learn more about the candidates running for the Van Buren Township Supervisor, Treasurer, and Trustees in the Aug. 2 Primary Election.
All candidates have been invited to attend a Candidates’ Forum on Thursday, June 16, at the Western campus of Wayne County Community College at 9555 Haggerty Road in Van Buren Township.
The forum will be in Lecture Hall D-100 from 7 to 9 p.m. Supervisor candidates will be presented from 7 to 7:45. The Treasurer candidates will be on from 7:50 to 8:10, and the Trustee candidates will follow from 8:15 to 9.
Leon Wright, the current township clerk, is running unopposed so will not be participating in the forum.
The public is invited to attend the forum and submit questions for the candidates that will be asked by a League moderator. The public can also submit questions in advance through the League’s email address: [email protected].
Only Democratic candidates have filed for Van Buren Township offices, which means that those elected in the Primary are most likely to win the seats in November.
The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization that encourages informed and active participation in government. It never supports or opposes any political party or candidate.

Hope the league of Women voters have a fair process. But like every other affair in Van Buren Township Croynisim runs rampant. Too much hatred and racism in this community.
