The Van Buren Township Police Department is seeking the public’s help in the investigation of an armed robbery that took place at about 12:18 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 24, at the BP gas station at Haggerty and Ecorse roads.
VBT Public Safety Director Gregory Laurain sent a press release that said the station clerk told police the suspect entered the station lobby and appeared to be shopping.
When the suspect brought an item up to the counter, he produced a semi-automatic handgun from his waistband and demanded the clerk give him money from the register.
The suspect exited the lobby with about $750 in cash and got in a vehicle waiting in the parking lot.
The suspect is described as a black male, 22-28 years of age, 6’ tall and 190 pounds, with facial stubble. He wore a black down jacket with hood, black jeans and black tennis shoes with white-rimmed soles.
Director Laurain said the clerk was unharmed and the vehicle, described as possibly a black Honda Civic, was last seen southbound on Haggerty Road.
Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to contact VBT Police Investigative Bureau at (734) 699-8915.
