On Sept. 4, Van Buren Township Public Safety Department Deputy Director Jason Wright provided crossing guard training to a new crossing guard. Kenneth Hawkins of Van Buren Township will be working the Tyler School crossing.
Deputy Director Wright said he and Director Gregory Laurain welcome Hawkins aboard and “appreciate the important job all our school crossing guards do to protecting our children in the community.”
Wright said he intends to make his rounds this school year to meet the other crossing guards in the district so they can get to know each other.
