Van Buren Township is announcing its police headquarters as a “Safe Zone” for Craigslist transactions for its residents.
Public Safety Director Greg Laurain said in the interest of public safety, the VBT Police Department is encouraging residents to utilize the police department’s lobby or parking lot as a place to meet person(s) to complete transactions initiated on Craigslist or similar online websites.
He said the police department is a safe zone that has a video recorded lobby and a desk officer on duty during business hours Monday through Friday.
Director Laurain said individuals operating online are not always who they appear to be so using caution and meeting at a safe venue such as the police department makes good sense.

He probably doesn’t realize how many actual transactions take place on craigslist. I can just picture how mad they gone be when 30 people are in the lobby dealing their junk when they be trying to conduct police business.
