The Van Buren Township Police Department will test the township-wide emergency sirens for three minutes at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5.
Director of Public Safety Greg Laurain said they plan to do the three-minute test at 1 p.m. on the first Saturday in September every year from now on.
Since the sirens were installed this year, the test on the first Saturday of each month has been for one minute at 1 p.m. and there had been no three-minute test to see if that emergency cycle worked, as well.
