Correction: Mousa Kadiri not hired by schools as reported

The Van Buren Public Schools Board of Education did not approve the hiring of Mousa Kadiri as bookkeeper/accountant in the Finance Department as of May 18, as reported on page 8 in last week’s Independent.
We have been advised that the district did not have all of the references complete, so the hiring was pulled from the agenda. That was before the Independent entered the meeting room on May 11.
We regret the slip-up.
