On Friday, Nov. 14, Michigan’s First Lady Sue Snyder visited Rawsonville Elementary School to help present the school with the Scholastic Reading Award for reading the most minutes – 966,675 – last summer. This is the third year in a row that Rawsonville won the top state award.
“That’s a ton of reading and I am so impressed,” Snyder said. “You set a record for the amount of reading and that makes you the best readers in our state.”
She led applause for the teachers who helped the students reach their goals.
Two representatives from Scholastic presented a special banner and Snyder presented a certificate from the state.
After the special assembly, Snyder read her favorite story to the kindergarten class: “Memoirs of a Goldfish” by Devin Scillian.
