On Saturday, Nov. 1, the Belleville High School Football Booster Club will hold its second-annual booster club scrap metal drive with drop-off hours between noon and 6 p.m.
All scrap-metal products (steel appliances, fans, steel or aluminum cans, swing set, car parts, etc.) can be dropped off behind St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, on Davis Street close to the high school parking lot.
The club’s scrap metal fundraisers help it focus on its mission of promoting community pride and a commitment to keeping the youth healthy with better eating.
“Community support allows the Football Booster Club the ability to providing nutritional foods to BHS athletic players,” said club president Charmel Jackson.
“Living in a community that makes a positive commitment in the protection of its citizens through recycling helps promote community pride,” Jackson said.
“It helps the citizens of Belleville feel like part of the solution. Working together to promote recycling and re-use through our annual fundraiser helps reduce the amount of material going into the landfill and allows us to be that difference.
“Missing meals and eating poorly are two of the worst things that an athlete can do. Poor nutrition can cause injury and lean muscle mass. Further, poor nutrition will cause you to lack that required energy you need before practice and before games. Your player will not outlast the competition.” (Dr. Mohammed S. Alo’s: FootballTimes. org).
“It is the BHS Football Booster Club’s goal to provide our teammates with a nutritional snacks before practice and a game day meal before every game,” she said.
Call Jackson at (313) 806-6659 or Joe Walker at (734) 787-0054 to schedule pickup or assistance with large items.
