Eric Tice, 12, is a new member of the Sumpter Township community and has enrolled at McBride Middle School.
Eric has eosinophilic disease and his mother Renee Osaer is putting on a Family Fun Day fundraiser for CURED (Campaign Urging Research for Eosinophilic Disease) at the Wayne County Fairgrounds on Oct. 25.
They recently moved here from Taylor.
Eosinophilic disease is very complex disease that attacks the digestive system and blood. It depletes the body of iron and essential nutrients necessary for proper development and physical growth.
In addition, the symptoms associated with this disease are painful cramping, bleeding, vomiting and polyps. In many cases, children develop severe damage to their digestive tracts.
Due to lack of nourishment caused from multiple food allergies or intolerance to so many foods, many children must rely on liquid formula or a feeding tube for their nutrition on a daily basis. There is no cure for the disorder.
Osaer is seeking raffle gifts to be purchased by a guest at the event. She said contributions will be publicly acknowledged.
All proceeds raised from this event will go directly toward medical research. Gift certificates, gifts, prizes or any other donations can be mailed to her at 22770 Sumpter Rd., Belleville 48111. Any checks should be written to CURED. Any raffle item will be picked up. Call Osaer at (734) 890-7384.
To make a donation visit the CURED website at www.curedfoundation.org and put Michigan in the comments section.
